A Chat With…Connie Cowans, CEO of ResetMe

Connie Cowans is the CEO of ResetMe, a Nutritional Therapist and Life Coach.

Her passion and her mission are to educate people to see food as medicine and medicine as food! She runs nutritional workshops, one-to-one coaching sessions and corporate workshops. Connie also speaks at churches to spread the word about how good nutrition can reverse chronic diseases and sustain health.

Before moving into nutritional therapy, Connie worked in desktop publishing at an investment bank training local and international staff on the company’s brand.

Tell us about your business.

My company helps people reset their health using the foods that are referenced in Genesis 1:29*. It all started about 4 years ago when my husband and I set out on a journey to just get well.

What inspired you to start your own venture?

A very close friend of ours was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a cancer of the white blood cells. At that time, my husband and I went on a 28-day juice fast and as we learnt all about the healing powers of food, we shared this with our friend. But because we weren’t titled with ‘Dr’ it was hard to get the message across.

Anyway, we set out on this journey and ever since, we’ve helped people reset their health by changing how they eat. We have reversed Type II diabetes, insomnia, obesity, and more. And that’s all based on eating the right foods.

How long have you been doing this for?

Our business has been going for 4 years now. It’s growing strong, as long as we put the work in. ‘No work, no business!’

Tell us about a business highlight for you.

When I speak at an event and I tell the crowd how unique they are, that they are one of a kind, and that there is no one like them – you know, get them to ‘big up’ themselves – just seeing their faces change is wonderful. Words of affirmation are so important and when I do this at any speaking event, it’s still a highlight for me!

What impact do you think ResetMe has had?

I think we give people hope that sickness and disease can be a thing of the past if they change the way they eat, as well as the way they think. For example, negative thoughts and a negative environment will invite more…negativity, so it’s about helping people reset themselves to get what they want from life.

Tell us something that excites you!

Reading about or watching a video or hearing someone talk about the results of changing the way they consume food. You’ve heard of the motto ‘Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food?’ Well my motto is ‘Let the right type of medicine be thy food, and the right type of food be thy medicine.’ We may think we are heating healthily, but it’s not always the case that we are eating what is right for us.

We also have an amazing technology incorporated into our business called the bio-communication scan. It’s a scan that determines the right type of food for your make-up. It helps you to balance your body. I’m really excited about seeing the results of this new technology and how people alter their diet as a result, and the changes that come.

The very first thing you do when you wake up is

Give God thanks for another day and get out of bed with vibrancy!

And the last thing you do before going to sleep is…

Listen to motivational messages and scriptures. I reflect on the day and what I could have done better, or just simply on what has happened that day.

On a day off what would you do?

I go to bed and plan for the next day, though I should be off!

Three people you’d like to have a chat with are

Suzanne Shank, the $2.6 trillion-dollar woman; Oprah Winfrey; Myles Munroe who was a role model and one that was very practical. He gave such great advice.
